Our bodies were made to be active. Only through use do we maintain the strength of our muscles, bones, and organs. The Applegate Valley Family Medicine, LLC providers and staff recommend at least 30 minutes of active exercise daily. This can be as simple as walking 3-5 miles a day. More intense physical activity should be cleared with your health care provider before being started. The physical activity does not have to be done at one time but can be broken into shorter intervals. For instance, a person could walk 10 minutes three times a day for the total of 30 minutes of recommended exercise. Another option is to buy a pedometer and wear it all day. By the end of the day, a minimum of 10,000 steps should be completed.
