Donna Mullarkey, MD, AAFP
Dr. Donna Mullarkey was born in New York City and grew up in New Jersey.  One of five children, she grew up in a large and supportive family; her interests then included roller derbies and field hockey!  Political science was her original passion in academics; she has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.
Following college, Dr. Mullarkey spent a year and a half in Nicaragua teaching English and doing research. Upon her return to the US, she worked at a battered women's shelter in New Jersey. She subsequently decided to become a Nurse Practitioner and started studying nursing at UCLA in Los Angles.
While studying nursing, Dr. Mullarkey realized that her future was actually in medicine. She entered Mayo Medical School, graduation in 1996 with her M.D., and did her residency in Family Practice at Eastern Maine Medical Center.  As a National Health Services Scholar, she came to Southern Oregon in 1999 to work at Siskiyou Community Health Center in Cave Junction.  After four years there, Dr. Mullarkey opened her own private practice in Cave Junction, and now Applegate Valley Family Medicine is privileged to have her as part of the provider team.
