Physicians

The physicians of Applegate Valley Family Medicine, LLC are here to treat a wide variety of illnesses as well as to aid you in your health maintenance. When indicated, we will not hesitate to refer you if your needs will be better served by a specialist's or sub- specialist's advanced training.

Our board-certified internal medicine physician, Karen Fahey, MD, ABIM, is an experience and well-qualified primary health care provider trained and experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic medical conditions in adults. Internists manage the full spectrum of adult medicine, including diabetes, thyroid disease, hypertension and heart disease, liver and stomach conditions, asthma, emphysema, COPD, women's health care, and many other conditions. Dr. Fahey limits her practice to adult medicine and does not see pediatric or obstetric patients.

Our board-certified family practice physician, Donna Mullarkey MD, AAPF, is trained, experienced, and skilled in the management of total family care. Because she is trained to provide care "from the cradle to the grave" (if you'll excuse the expression) she is capable of meeting the health care needs of all family members, from infants to senior citizens. In addition to diagnosing and treating acute and chronic diseases, she is also skilled in recommending healthy lifestyle choices and provision of health maintenance for patients of all ages, Dr.Mullarkey does not provide obstetrical care, but can provide referral to local obstetricians.

Both of AVFM's physicians have chosen to focus on outpatient care and management, and will not be managing hospitalized patients. Area hospitalists will manage all hospital care. Hospitalists are physicians whose sole responsibility is the care and management of hospitalized patients. Our providers will work with, and coordinate your care with, hospitalist physicians, and will be glad to resume your care upon your discharge from the hospital.

Our physicians are also trained in the provision of office-based procedures, including repair of simple skin lacerations and injuries, skin biopsies, cryotherapy, anoscopies, and many other procedures.
